Busted Laptop

Ugh. Where have I been? Well, my laptop is busted so we have no computer at home. Even though I have been planning on writing short updates at work, it hasn't happened until right now. (ssshhhh, don't tell the boss) Oh, and they can't find our laptop right now so even though it's been almost two weeks we have no idea when we'll get it back, if ever. This laptop has been nothing but trouble. Different brand next time for sure!

So what have I been up to?

Well today was a routine check up with the OB (22 weeks 3 days). They have encouraged me to try out all the docs since I will get whoever is on call on the Big Day. I liked the doctor I had today. I have been super worried about my cervix (big surprise, it's my latest paranoia). It shrunk from 5.9 cm at 10 weeks to 3.3 cm at 18 weeks. She said that was probably normal but I explained that I will be travelling for work for a whole week (not a universally loved issue at my house right now - another post...). She offered to do a manual check and then ultrasound if needed. So she went ahead poking around in there and said it felt great, probably like 4 cm and totally firm and closed. Good news! I can relax a little. Everything else was great - my blood pressure, baby girl's heart rate, my weight, my size measurement. I'll go back in four weeks and then every two weeks thereafter.

I have scheduled lots of baby classes!! I am excited about them but annoyed that they are all on Saturdays (meaning I have to get up early). I wanted to take them all in May but everything overlapped with the aforementioned business trip. I am too afraid to wait until June and all the good times in April are booked. So I have a class on three out of four Saturdays in April. One is for general baby care (diapering, feeding, burping, bathing, etc), one is breastfeeding, and one is infant first aid.The other is the childbirth prep course. It would normally be once a week in the evening for four weeks. Instead we have to take it from 8:30 to 5:30 on a Saturday! Yikes, I hope we can absorb everything we need to know in one day!

My mother- and father-in-law are visiting for hubby's spring break. It is really nice to have them here and they drove their SUV so they helped us pick up the crib and dresser we bought. Yay! I love the furniture and can't wait to put the nursery together. We still have some closets to clear out but I am super motivated to do that now since I started last week.

Finally, baby girl and I are doing pretty well. I still get lots of headaches but am dealing and allowing myself some tyl.enol and caffeine every now and then. I finally feel her move a lot! It started in just the past 3 or 4 days. Well, it's more that I am sure the stuff I feel is her because it is much stronger. Hubby has even felt it and loved it! I am so thrilled that she is finally beating on me, especially since it doesn't hurt me yet! But boy do I have to pee All The Time again. Speaking of which... gotta run!

I have been keeping up with blogs over my lunch breaks but haven't been commenting as much as usual. Still thinking about you all and wishing nothing but the best!

  1. Yay for everything looking great and moving along on schedule!! Boo for broken computers.
:( So glad you're feeling her move more often now, it's reassuring I know. We're spending our entire month of Saturdays in May at baby classes. DH wanted Saturdays. :( I won't be working so I guess it won't matter much.

  2. sounds like everything is coming together so well for you guys!
Btw totally intrigued by the travel topic. I've been arguing with husband abt the same topic- I have some work trips scheduled for Africa and he doesn't want me and his precious parcel going anywhere... :( we still haven't resolved the issue. What's yours?

  3. The baby care classes are so great! And exhausting! I would recommend bringing a huge bottle of water to each one and some snacks. Mine had water and snacks, but the water was in tiny cups and ran out right away. And the snacks were all gone quickly because of the husbands! Have a great time!

Glad to hear everything is going so great. Fetal movement is so incredible, isn't it? I miss that the most about my pregnancy.

You will have to post pictures of the nursery!
