A Good Appointment, But I Got in Trouble

Welcome ICLW visitors! I see that several people have stopped by already and many offered their condolences on the loss of my cousin. It has truly proven to be a very difficult time. Perhaps most difficult has been seeing another cousin, her sister, post heartbreaking status updates and messages to Carrie on facebook. She is 17 and I know she is really struggling.

But, as sad as we have been, there is also reason for celebration this Christmas. Today we had an appointment with an ultrasound that was supposed to be a checkup and NT test. Turns out it was a few days too early for an NT (I asked that when I scheduled!) but I didn't care, I really just wanted the ultrasound! The baby measured 10w4d when we expected 10w3d - so yay! Heartbeat was great at 167. Little arms and legs and feet visible. So nice to see. :) Here's the best pic:

But as my post title says, I got in trouble. I have lost 8 pounds and my NP is not at all happy with that. Since she expects me to be sick for at least another 3-4 weeks, she made me go on drugs to help with the nausea in hopes that it will improve my eating. I really was hoping to avoid that but at this point I agree it is probably for the best. Also, the more sleep I get the better and last night was a terrible sleeping night. So on that note, I am off to take a nap and will explore some new blogs later today!

  1. What a BEAUTIFUL picture!! :) YAAAAAAAY! That is the exactly same age as Baby B's u/s pic on my blog. How exciting for you!!

So glad to hear that your visit went well, even if you did get in a bit of trouble. I hope that the meds help and that you get to feeling better soon. Oh, and 3-4 weeks is just a guess, you know. We're into week 15 and still it lingers over here...not as badly as you, of course...but my doc says give it to week 16-18 before it's gone. Oh, joy. ;)

I just woke up from a nap myself, so here's hoping you enjoy yours. :) Sleep well, my friend!

  2. What a beautiful baby!! Hoping you're starting off the week of good u/s's. Mine is Wednesday and I'm terrified. Sorry your being forced onto the drugs, I really would take some of that nausea if there was a way to transfer it. Hoping you had a good nap and you'll feel better soon. Almost to the second trimester.

  3. I love the little feet and hands. It is so weird to get in trouble for losing weight! That doesn't happen in real life. I have gained 2 but it feels like 10.
    Happy ICLW!

  5. I lost (and am still losing) an awful lot of weight (10kgs+) throughout this pregnancy due to hyperemesis gravidarum, I'm at 36 weeks and still on Zofran to manage my vomiting - I totally understand how you feel and hope the nausea goes away soon for you!

  6. I LOVE the early pregnancy photos. Isn't it just the coolest thing ever? Did you get to see the baby move during the scan? That was what always blew my mind. Watching the baby move but not feeling anything. The miracle of life is so cool (and I'm not talking about the nasty video they make you watch in high school). I hope the meds help. :)

  9. Congrats on your little one, great u/s pic!! As far as the sickness, I'm so sorry. I totally feel you. I started off weighing 195 lbs pre-pregnancy, and by the time I delivered our son at almost 38 weeks I weighed 201. I was still on zofran when I had him. It was miserable. The great news was that 6 weeks after having him (and nursing), I weighed 175!!! We had an accident which landed me immobile for quite a while and I gained it all back, and now weigh more than I ever did! It's awful, and it's miserable, but I also know you wouldn't have it any other way!!!! Congrats, and Happy ICLW!

  22. Hi Jill

Stumbled upon your blog via ICLW. Ultrasound pictures are amazing. Especially the early ones when your baby is just beginning to develop into something you can recognize! It is like a miracle.

I should say though that we didn't really like the 3D pictures later on when we were expecting. So we didn't get any of those.

Hope you feel better soon and your pregnancy goes well.

Best wishes and enjoy the Holidays!

  24. Sorry for the bittersweet time you are having. That is a beautiful picture, though! I hope you're able to eat soon. I was "prescribed" ice cream during my first pregnancy as I just wasn't able to gain weight...one of the only times in my life.

Best wishes on a continued happy pregnancy.
