Hooray! I was positively elated! Now I realize that this is not a guarantee of ovulation, but it is the closest thing I have seen since February. I haven't seen so much as a hint of a line since then. And I've been doing so much bitching lately saying that I just want a chance to get pregnant so maybe here it is. Of course I want to actually get my BFP but at this point I will be happy with ovulation as a first step. In any case, something more is going on in there compared to the previous 6 months!
Here are my complaints (and what kind of infertile would I be if I didn't have any?): (1) my temps still haven't been showing me anything to be excited about. Can I still get pregnant if the chart doesn't look pretty? (2) I have been hearing a lot lately about Clo.mid being detrimental to the lining - does this typically prevent implantation or can it lead to a m/c too? and (3) I had the almost-line yesterday at noon, tested a second time yesterday evening and saw nothing, and then had the line for sure today. Do you test twice a day? Maybe I shouldn't be doing that even though my kit says I should. Have you ever seen a line disappear only to come back again? What would that mean?
Despite my concerns I have to be happy with my line. I truly had given up hope on this cycle and really didn't have much to begin with. Of course, now I have hope just waiting to be dashed where there was none before. *Sigh* But finally I have a signal that something is going on in there. Let's hope it's something great!
I don't have a lot of experience with opks, since I only did them for a small amount of time. They didn't work for me very well, because it said I'd ovulated and I hadn't (not to get your hopes up!). Maybe your body had TRIED to ovulate when you saw the line the first time, but didn't quite get the job done? Maybe that's why it came back darker, because it actually worked? I dunno! Sorry I can't be of more assistance!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment on my blog!
Also, I just realized that the title of this post is from "Dumb and Dumber." Hilarious! My family quotes that movie all the time!
ReplyDeleteYea for an ovulation line. I have never used opk strips so I have no help there. However, yes clomid does make your lining less thick. My cycles are long so by the time I got to that point I was off the clomid for a bit and my lining got better. You can also use progesterone to make a lining thicker.
ReplyDeleteDumb and Dumber, I am a total fan. A freak actually. Seen it like 100 times and funny enough its showing here in Cairo in a few days, AGAIN, on TV. Yeah for your two lines girl!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog! I live in Texas so, yes, I was very excited when the temps finally dropped this week! Good luck with your infertility journey. I hope you see your BFP soon!
ReplyDeleteI've never tried OPK's. I did the whole temp charting things for a year... and maybe it didn't work b/c I never ovulated b/c of PCOS, but it definately isn't something I'll ever do again. I hope your IF journey ends with a BFP and healthy baby very soon!

Woohoo! That is definitely a positive! :) Sending you lots of luck!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about OPKs - I have never been able to get a positive on one - but I think surges are quick so they say to test twice a day to be sure you don't miss it.
Congrats on your positive OPK, I know how gratifying it is to see.
ReplyDeleteMy cycle's are very regular and I test twice per day. I typically get a positive in the afternoon. I can't say that I've ever seen the line disappear, but I have seen it get lighter. Do you think maybe you had too much fluid to drink before you took the test? It's possible that the LH could have been diluted if you did.
Best wishes, I hope this is your month!
Wahhooo! nice positive.....have fun "planning accordingly"
ReplyDeleteI love Dumb and Dumber! I may just put it on right now :)
yeah two pink lines!! My OB says the temp shift is the thing to watch for, so as soon as you see the temp shift, call your OB and 7 days later, get a progesterone blood test. That is the most accurate way to see if you ovulated (hahaha look at me, acting like your doc!)
ReplyDeleteAnd as far as clomid goes, I had a friend who got knocked up first time trying clomid, successfully gave birth to a boy, then round two of baby making, got knocked up on second try with clomid, and just recently gave birth to 2 healthy babies (twin boy and girl).
I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!!!
Are you getting a 7dpo progesterone test? That will tell you if you ovulated or not. I got a positive OPK on CD17 of my first Clomid cycle, but my progesterone was only 9 at 7dpo, which according to my doc means I *probably didn't* ovulate. Of course, that's just my case and most people do ovulate on Clomid. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteYay for the big O. I hope the good news keeps coming.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I agree with you on Glee. Schu needs to hurry up and find out the truth about his wife so he can move on!!
Thank you so much for your post! I understand what you are saying and I didn't think you were being preachy! What the lady told me was the first miscarriage was natural and then I got antibodies after that pregnancy which caused my 3 other miscarriages. I started googling and it said that it does cause miscarriages but I was only pregnant for about 7-8 weeks (my first miscarriage).
ReplyDeleteAnyways, I really appreciate your message. I've had so much guilt over this (the first week) but now I'm over it and just ready to have my baby. I'm going to get all the proper blood tests done with my RE before I even start...I'm going to continue to lose weight and then in five months, work with our RE.

Thanks for visiting me!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a positive OPK! I had been using digital OPKs but it still means catching the best time of day to POAS.
Wow, look at that ovulation test! Yeah! It's so nice when you actually see that there is something going on in there! Hoping good things for you!
ReplyDeleteICLW
Hurray for your nice dark line! I'll be sending good thoughts that it leads to a great result for you!
ReplyDeleteIt is funny how much a positive OPK can make an infertile. I remember the first time I got mine. I was over the moon! So congrats on your pos OPK!
ReplyDeleteAs for chlomid keeping your lining small, that is true. However, they can give you progesterone tablets that you insert "up there" and those will help make the lining nice and thick. As far as I remember, a thin lining is a bad thing for implantation. It all just depends on how thick/thin it is.
Best wishes for your TWW!
Yeah for positive OPK!! I didn't do well with OPK's but I wish you ALL the luck in the world and I'm hoping for a BFP for you!! When the Clomid thinned my lining it was like 4 when we triggered, my RE said she has seen women with linings that thin successfully carry a baby. So it is possible. Will they give you estrace(estrogen) to increase your lining? Estrogen builds it up and progesterone makes it sticky, I think is the way it works. I use both estrogen and progesterone supplements. Thanks for following our journey with such positive hope & thoughts!! It really makes a difference!! :)
