Introducing...

...my puppies!

First up is Sophie (aka "Little Guy"). We got her as a puppy from a breeder and she is now 5 years old. She runs the show and thinks she is a princess. When we lived in snow country she would give me Looks every time I sent her out to potty in the snow. In her opinion, she required a warming house and toilet paper, I guess. She would also hop around in the snow in an effort to keep as few paws as possible on the ground at one time. She is somewhat cat-like in that she will be around you if she feels like it but she is just as likely to be found curled up on my pillow on the bed all alone. She is kind of a midget, even for her breed. Boston Terriers are usually at least 15-16 lbs but she comes in at about 12. As a puppy, Sophie needed surgery on both of her knees (likely due to genetic problems). Her little nostrils are also really small so she has a little breathing trouble now and then. But we loved everything else about the breed and wanted another so we decided to adopt. We figured that way if there were any health problems they would be known to us up front. Also, there was a good chance we wouldn't have to deal with house training and other puppy stuff.

That is how we got Lucy (aka "Big Guy") - from a BT rescue organization here in Arizona. She came to us as a timid and super skinny girl. After only a few days she came out of her shell and has gotten better each day (and gained a much-needed 4 pounds). Although, sadly, you can still tell she has trust issues deeply ingrained in her. She might be 3 or 4 years old (not sure) but we have had her now for about a year and a half. She provides the comic relief around here as she is a complete goof and, God love her, not too bright. But she's awesome and I often ask her how it is possible that someone didn't want her. Their loss, our gain! Lucy adores Sophie and after a year of trying is finally able to lay down right next to (or on top of) her without Sophie leaving. They wrestle and play tug of war when Sophie says it's ok.

These are my babies and like any good pet parent I love them with my whole heart! :)

  5. Awww! Such cute fur babies. That's awesome you adopted Lucy. Dogs really do bring so much joy. There is a quote that says something along the lines of, "A dog is the only thing in this world that will love you more than he does himself." It is so true. There's nothing like a good dog.

  9. They both look adorable. You're so lucky to have them both.

Funny, my dog used to love the snow. The 'look' we got from him when it has snowed was more along the lines of "You brought the snow back again?! Just for me?!"
