A Sea of 1,000 Greens

I am literally lost in a sea of 1,000 greens. Green paint color samples, that is. I decided that I want to paint the master bedroom in our new house green. It has been so long since I have been able to have non-white walls that I want to go all out. I think I want to get a neutral comforter so it would match almost any color, in case we get sick of whatever I pick!

There is a perfect green color in my head that I would like to use. Apparently, this color does not exist in real life. I have looked at so many green colors that I am just more confused. Most greens are too blue and some are too yellow. I don't want hunter green, anything sage-y, or too yellowy. I can only explain it as true green, only several shades lighter. Maybe it is like lime green but less yellow? I got the inspiration from a house we visited while we were hunting but maybe I am remembering it incorrectly. You'd think this would be easy because I don't have to match the color to any other fabric/thing.

Adding to my difficulties is the fact that hubby is wary of color. When we were first married it was a stretch to get him to let me paint a neutral tan because it was a few shades darker than he was comfortable with. In fact, my mom and I tricked him by getting him to agree to a color on a card and then actually using the next darker color. When it went up on the walls he said, "This is darker than I thought it would be." My mom and I exchanged glances and then never spoke of it again! He would not be impressed if he knew. He has come a long way in that department, evidenced by the fact that he is even entertaining my green vision.

I wanted to post some sample pics I made at the Behr website but they are smart and don't allow me to steal their pictures. Here's a pic I found of the bathroom at the inspiration house:

Green has never been my favorite color (not that I don't like it, obviously). I don't know where this desire for a green bedroom came from. Am I crazy to want to paint my bedroom this color and have to stare at it day in and day out?

  1. LOL you are not crazy. I have always liked green, but then again I'm partial. LOL at tricking your hubby. I hope you guys are able to find a color you both love.

  2. Hi, Jill....thanks so much for stopping by my blog. It's nice to "meet" you! :)

BTW: I love the green...and paint is a cheap fix. If you find that you can't live with it day in and day out, just paint it again...there is always that lovely tan that your hubs "picked" out. LOL. ;)

I read back over some of your posts and see that we do have a bit in common...I am so sorry to hear about your sweet angel baby. Here's hoping that you find some answers and have good news to share soon.

Looking forward to reading more about you! All the best!

    Happy ICLW Week!

  3. You are having the same dilemma I had with my wedding colors. I kept trying to explain what that color green was in my head. No body seemed to understand. I love the color green, and just got some great green artwork for my master bedroom. I hope you find that perfect color soon!

    Happy ICLW.

  4. That looks like a very pretty green! I think half of my house is green! LOL! Different shades of green and neutrals all over the house. Good luck with your search!

  5. I love that green! Just remind your hubby that he will be asleep for most of the time that he's in the room if he balks at the color. He can sleep not thinking about the green and you can sleep knowing that your bedroom is awesome color.

  9. You aren't crazy. I want to paint my livingroom green. I like the idea of a nice not quite mossy but not bright green room. However, I'm having a similar problem. My green doesn't seem to exist in real life.

  10. Congrats on your new house! I think a green would be very nice for a bedroom. If you think doing the entire room in green would be too much, maybe you could just do an accent wall with green?

My problem is that I don't know how to accessorize AT ALL - No clue what goes with what or how to put together a finished room.

I wish you lots of luck with your colors and with your TTC journey.

(p.s. Thanks for stopping by my blog and sharing your story of craziness! I hope there are no more run ins too! hehe)

  11. Hi, thanks for commenting on my blog!
I know JUST how frustrating it is to have miscarried and not have anything happen since. This month is actually the one year mark of when we conceived and it sucks.
I'd like to add you to my blog list. :)

Also, I saw that you're mid-westerners now living in Arizona. I'm from Utah and now living in the mid-west, so looks like we switched places! I miss the scenery out west SO much.

    Nice to meet you!

  13. I love that green. So... we painted our bedroom about that same color (slightly lighter) and I ended up hating it. We kept it up for about a year (cuz we're lazy) until finally repainting it a yellow-green that's about 50% lighter. Now I love it! And hey... green is a very "fertile" color... perfect for the bedroom! ;-)

    Happy ICLW to you!
