Still Here!

Oh my goodness it's a been a long time since I posted! But after jubilantly proclaiming how wonderful I was feeling a couple of weeks ago, God said Ha! First I got a cold. Normally I'd spend my days hopped up on dayquil and/or sudafed and my nights knocked out from nyquil. Um, not so much allowed this time around. I had two nights in a row of basically not sleeping. That was the worst part, being exhausted during the day while filled with snot. By the third night, miraculously tylenol and a breathe right thingie got me through the night. I was, of course, terrified that it was pregnancy-induced rhinitis and wouldn't ever go away. Literally everything I read for 16 weeks warned about the arrival of this symptom, perfectly timed with my downfall. Luckily I am better now but definitely still congested, which could be the dreaded pregnancy symptom but at least I can live with this as opposed to how I felt earlier this week.

Then by Wednesday I started a fun new trend of coming down with a horrible headache every afternoon that lasted all evening. It would be gone each morning but would rear it's head again every day after lunch. That was combined with some serious lower back pain. I have talked to a pregnant friend about chiropractors and she loves hers and swears by it. I had never been to a chiropractor before but decided to give it a shot. They found some definite problem spots as I was fine when they pushed on some vertebrae and howled in pain on others. He made some adjustments and sent me on my way. My back is definitely 100% better. I did get a headache again today but nothing like the previous three days. So all in all, a success.

So in any case, I was just not feeling up to blogging lately. Everything seemed like a total chore. I kept up with reading, just barely, and wasn't even much for commenting lately. But I'm back and feeling pretty good. If mild congestion and a small headache is what I have to put up with, I am totally fine with that. Just let me be functional!

I am now 16 weeks and so happy! My belly is really growing and I totally love it. I started busting out of many of my shirts this week (I wear a lot of button down shirts and those def do not work anymore!) so it was time for some shopping. I have a complaint about maternity clothes though. Why does every damn shirt have a v neck or huge scoop neck?! I have to admit that I always have terrible skin (thanks PCOS) and right now with no treatment my upper chest is completely broken out. Non-pregnant Jill (on b/c) does not have to deal with body acne. Yuck! It is so embarrassing. There is no way I can wear a v or scoop neck right now. I defy you to build a maternity wardrobe with this restriction! Very frustrating. I found a few things that will work but I need more. I tried on so many cute things that I would have loved to buy but there were my gross pimples in all their uncovered glory. Boooo....

Well, this is already a long and boring post...sorry! But I thought I'd let you know I am still here and this stuff is really all I have been up to: being sick and then shopping. I'll try to come up with something more interesting later. I'll have to post some pics soon. I have some belly shots and some before and afters of the new house. That may be more interesting than snot and acne.

  1. LOL, you are too cute.. and snotty! I actually have some maternity shirts, bought in a smaller size that I wear normally, they are not cut like a maternity shirt and I wear loose clothes anyway. But you are so right, they are ALL v or scoop neck!!! What about putting a stretchy t-shirt underneath? That may work? Glad you are feeling better and I can't believe its 16 weeks already yeah! xoxoxox

  2. Oh girl I felt your sick pain. So, so, so glad it's better(for both of us). I still have congestion hanging around too, but I can sleep now so if this is pregnancy rhinitis I'm ok with that. I got some long sleeve maternity t-shirts @ Old Navy that are not low cut. They could be layered under other things quite nicely, and they're soft!! I think they have short sleeve ones now, getting ready for summer. Yay for 16 weeks!! I'm there tomorrow & can't wait for 20 to find out what our little one is.

  3. I think theose shirts are meant to show off the great preggo boobies! hahaha It's hilarious that someone thought THAT was a great feature for maternity clothes. Must have been a man!

I am glad you are trekking through the pregnancy. Thanks for posting an update:)

  4. Good to hear your back and cold is better- I used to go to a chiropractor regularly to have my back adjusted but have been back just once since pregnancy. He said he treats women throughout the 8th month. I need to make an appt- love chiropractors!
Btw my sister swears by the Liz Lange shirt at target and the neck is high and the price is low: http://www.target.com/Liz-Lange-Target-Essential-Layering/dp/B002AW4B56/ref=br_1_8?ie=UTF8&frombrowse=1&searchView=grid5&searchNodeID=16265861&node=16265861&searchRank=pmrank&searchPage=1&searchSize=30&id=Liz%20Lange%20Target%20Essential%20Layering

  5. I hope your headaches will go away soon! That sounds awful!
I've been having trouble in maternity shirts. The tank tops aren't doing anything to help me cover up! I feel so uncomfortable at work!

  6. Hmmmmm...you sound just like me a few weeks ago. :) The headaches are probably the most annoying thing to deal with (and I still have them pretty frequently...oh the joy of hormones). But they have gotten better...your's surely will, too. :)

And the acne is the pits! I currently have the same issues (especially on my chest)...the Liz Lange stuff (at Target...like NYC said) isn't as low cut and I've found some good layering pieces there. Old Navy and Macy's, too.

I'm glad that you're back and are feeling more like yourself again. Yay for 16 weeks...enjoy!!

  7. I found you via Creme de la Creme and have had fun reading a couple of your posts. I really liked the one about the arranged marriages, and I think I would have totally been curious about that too.

I too, told my husband about my PCOS before we were married. Although I was not really diagnosed then, I told him about my irregular periods and that I knew it might mean trouble for getting pregnant. He responded much like your husband. We are now waiting for a match with a birthmom to adopt our first child.

And I so love my chiropractor. I think you will find much relief throughout your pregnancy from the adjustments with the limitations on what medicines you can take.

    Happy pregnancy to you!

Oh, and I love your blog background!

  8. Not only do maternity clothes have low cuts, the prints on them are not very flattering either. I don't understand the print thing. They are not to my liking!! Come on maternity clothes makers, get with the trends please!!
