As warned, I haven't posted in a while. We spent all day Friday, Saturday and today at the new house cleaning and painting. And remember my post about my dream of a green bedroom? I fear it is turning into a nightmare! It is much brighter and bolder than I thought it would be and part of me really wants to change it. However, hubby loves it and my mom who is the best painter refuses to change it. I am really hoping once we get some furniture, drapes and accessories in there I will change my mind. But I'm afraid I won't! I would post a pic but I keep forgetting to bring my camera over there. The color actually casts a green hue on people's skin when they're in there! Yikes!
On a happier painting note, we were planning to paint almost the whole first level ourselves but I found a professional painter who gave us a really reasonable quote. We'll have him do the living room/dining room combo which has a vaulted ceiling and the stairwell and upstairs landing and we'll save a few hundred by doing the family room ourselves since it has regular ceilings and really isn't too big. I am so excited that they will do the bulk of it! I can't wait, the walls really need paint! I'll have to post some before and afters soon. We should be all settled by the time our company arrives the first weekend in December. Lots to do but very exciting!

Oh no about the green! I would like to say I think you will get used to it, but I kind of think you will never like it if you don't know. I painted our master bedroom in my last house this blue I thought would look fantastic... when I got it all done, I hated it. I hated it almost every day the whole time we were there, but it had vaulted ceilings and was hard to paint, so I left it that way until we moved out, which thank heaven was only a year and a half later.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it casts a green hue! I wish I could offer to come over and help you repaint just to save your sanity. That is such a bummer.
Hopefully the rest of the house turns out fanastic and you love all of the other colors. Can't wait to see pictures!
I think the addition of furniture and window treatments will definitely tone down the greenness. If not, the good thing about paint is that it can always be painted over :)
ReplyDeleteOh no! I hope when you add accessories to the room and furniture, the green won't be soo bad! Just remember, if you don't like it you can repaint it no matter what anyone else says! :)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished product, can you come over and pain my house when you are done? :)

Congrats!! We have a green bedroom, it's grown on me. It will be so nice that you have some help painting, that was my least favorite part of moving into our place. The finished product is worth it, but the work isn't so fun. Looking forward to some pictures!! :)
ReplyDeleteI hope that you like it more once the room is put together, but the "casting a green hue" on people part doesn't sound good at all! Sorry you are facing potential repainting -- I know it is cheap and easy, but I still hate having to immediately repaint anything.
